Water Baby!

Well, I'm a little behind. I will make another post with pics from Ben and my long weekend away. I have a hard time with posts and pictures because I don't know an easy way to add pics besides the button on the top of the page, that ya'll can't see, but I can while typing this. But, it changed to puting them into html format, so I can't actually see the pictures until they're posted, so it makes it hard for me to add captions. I'm gonna try! Anyone have any secrets? Let me know!

Miles and I went to a local park with our Mommy and Me group on Friday. This park has one of our city's new "splash pads", that replaced the wading pools in parks. There is actually one very near to our house, which I'm excited about for future excursions. In going to this park, I didn't think the splash pad would be open, so I went very unprepared for what we found. Water! Once Miles noticed it, he was off and running. Argyle shirt, khaki shorts and all!

Ugh! I have issues with blogger. It crashes Internet explorer on my computer. How annoying. Anyhow, I'm going to try some more.

Miles is literally dripping wet in this photo...and loving it!

He was fascinated by these buckets! He even stood directly under one while it poured out and he didn't seem to mind at all.

The splash pads have many cool "water features". Miles seemed to like them all.

Eventually, he got cold (even though it was, I'm fairly certain, in the 80s, though he was in the shade), so I took off all his clothes, put a dry diaper on him, borrowed a towel from one of the other moms to dry him off(like I said, I was totally unprepared for water adventures!), lathered his pasty white back and tummy with sunscreen (also didn't anticipate him running around the park basically naked, so only put sunscreen on his face and limbs to begin with), and let him loose! One of these pics he has a mouthful of cheese, hence the puffy cheeks. He got warm again, and headed back over to the water. To coax him to leave (after about an hour and a half), I had to bribe him with this:
A very large, very melty chocolate chip cookie that I got at the coffee shop across the street from the park! Bribing my baby with cookies...I'm a horrible mother :)

Finger Painting Fun

Ben and Miles did a little finger painting project for Mother's Day a few weeks ago. Since then Miles has been walking around, pointing to the cupboard I put the paints in and saying "Cuh-er! Cuh-er!". I haven't let him do it again, but whipped them out last night after dinner and he had a blast!

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Hmmm.... Not Me! Monday! time already! I had a hard time coming up with things for this week, but not because I'm perfect, but rather because I tend to "forget" the imperfect things I do and say.

I did not have Starbucks almost every day this week (even twice on one day) because that would mose definitely go against the Starbucks ban I have going on. I did not give in to the temptation of a tall Java Chip Frappuccino light with an add shot during this beautiful summer weather we're having...nope! Not me!!!

I did not go out of my way to buy my sweet boy a new toy for the deck and let him splash around in it for two hours...despite the pictures below. Nope, I would never spoil my baby boy by randomly spending $60 on a TOY that I'm sure he'll spend many hours with this summer.

This morning when I took Miles to Mommy and Me at the park, I most definitely did not not only forget but completely didn't even think to put sunscreen on my pasty pale white Irish/Scottish boy. Nope, not me! I also did not hesitate to ask to borrow some from another mom. Good thing I'm the only mom in the group who forgot and didn't bring any or my boy would be a lobster like I now am (even though we were only there for an hour at ten in the morning!).

I lastly did not go to Mommy and Me with naked toenails and flip flops on because I cannot find any nail polish anywhere in my house. And, because of the naked toes I most definitely did not feel ashamed of them and did not feel ashamed that I was ashamed. Nope! Not me!

Lastly lastly, I DO NOT have Diego babysitting my son while writing this post before I go to work. Nope! I would never let Diego babysit my son! Not me!!!

Next week, I'll do better at coming up with some stupid things I've done :) Hope you enjoyed my Not Me! Monday!

Miles' New Toy

It is so beautiful here this weekend! Well, I guess it is Monday now. I may write a Not me! Monday! post later on tonight. We'll see if I have time. Yesterday we went out and got Miles a new toy! I'm pretty excited about it. It is a water and sand table for our deck. We're not going to put sand in it, just water. Mostly because water + sand = mud, which we don't want on our deck, or our son! Miles loved it. He is definitley a water lover. Here's some pics, as well as a pic of his mom and dad and our freshly mowed back yard (thanks babe!).

Fun with Auntie Annie

Auntie Annie came to visit this weekend. Miles had a blast playing with her. I think it had been since Christmas that he'd seen her. He warmed-up to her right away and didn't hold back on the hugs!

Last night I made Enchiladas for dinner. Miles was a big fan! He especially loves olives :)

"Not Me! Monday!"

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

So, this is my very first Not Me! Monday! post. I'm hoping to start blogging more frequently and have a "theme" for every day of the week. I'll also post some new pics from Mother's Day yesterday.

1) I did not sleep through my alarm clock two days in a row making me 20 minutes late for both our Mother's Day brunch with my parents and a staff meeting for work this morning. I hate being late to things! I am not lacking on sleep in the least, so there is no reason how I could possibly sleep through my alarm.

2) Being the Earth conscious person that I am, I most certainly did not pretend to not see my empty Starbucks cup that my son was playing with sitting in the shopping cart when I put it back in the stall at the grocery store. During said grocery trip, I also did not open the bag of tortilla chips for my son to snack on. Who lets their 20month old eat unpaid for tortilla chips in the grocery store? Especially when the tupperware of Cheerios were not left sitting on the kitchen counter and were sitting right in my diaper bag!

3) After leaving the grocery store (eventful trip!), I definitely did not turn the wrong way onto a one-way street! After one person honking at me and reading the "Do Not Enter" sign that smacked me in the face right after my turn, I quickly realized the error that I did not make. I also did not call the driver who flipped me off and yelled at me out their window (after I realized said mistake that I did not make) an *sshole with my son in the car right behind me! I never swear in front of my child and especially don't exhibit any kind of road rage with him in the car.

4) Lastly, I have not had Starbucks five out of seven days since putting myself on a Starbucks ban. All were completely not justified by the fact that two of them were paid for with a Starbucks card I got in the mail from the hospital I work for because of nurses week and the next three I "deserved" because I was working over-time on Saturday night, Sunday was Mother's Day, and I had to get up early-early (for me!) to go to said staff meeting that I was 20min late for on my day off. Nope. None of those drinks were mine! I've been very diligent about reducing my Starbucks intake...

I hope you enjoyed my first Not Me! Monday! post. Hopefully I'll keep up with it every week. Any creative ideas for other "posts of the day" (for Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri)?

Here are some pictures from my Mother's Day yesterday. I had a great day, despite my lack of sleep after working all night. Brunch with my parents and Grandma. I stuffed myself and made my stomach hurt, but it was tasty! We then headed up to my in-laws for a while to see my mother-in law. My husband got me a digital picture key chain and helped my son finger paint me a picture! I also bought myself a Slice machine my Memory Makers as a Mother's Day gift :) Many of these pictures were taken at my in-laws' and at my parents' house.

I've been fiddling with the settings on my new camera, as well as being a little more adventurous with my Photoshop Elements. I like the results! I hope you do to. I got some tips on creating very color-saturated photos from a post at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/. Click here to read her post about it.

Some videos...I hope!

Here are a few videos I took with my new camera. It does sound! The picture quality isn't that great, so I'd still like to get a Flip camera thing (I think that's what it is called), but you get the idea.

This is Miles playing Patty Cake. THe "roll it" part is the best.

I couldn't get the others to load, so you'll have to wait. Hope you enjoy!
