Strawberry Fields Forever

A sunny day last week, we headed up to Greenbluff to pick some strawberries. We've wanted to do this for years, but never got around to it. Well, this year we finally made it!

They had tractor rides from the barn/parking area to the fields.  It was a beautiful, sunny, warm, day.   Miles was thrilled that we got to ride a "tractor"!

Isla rode on my back in the Ergo.  We didn't want to haul the stroller out to the field.

Miles was excited to start picking!

I picked with Isla on my back for a while.  But having a toddler on my back while on my hands an knees just wasn't comfortable!  So, despite the fact that I left her shoes in the car (mom fail!), I let her down to help pick.  She was a happy girl.

But she didn't do much picking!

She loved eating the berries as I picked.  She also ran around a bit, but stayed between Ben and me, or followed Miles around.

Miles had to inspect the stash...all 13lbs!

Don't they look amazing!?!?!

We walked back to the barn to pay.  We didn't wait for a ride because Isla was a bit cranky and we didn't want to wait.

After we paid, we walked around the farm to see some animals.  Isla was back on my back :).

Eventually she grew tired...almost nap time!

Miles enjoyed seeing the horses, chickens, and roosters.

As well as feeding the horse!

We shared some of the berries with my Dad's office staff, my parents, an ate some.  I froze a bunch in little baggies to use as smoothies.  Someday I'll make jam, but not this year!

  1. I have never been strawberry picking, but it looks like a lot of fun. I bet my girls would like it!
